Counseling Anxiety for Women AND Men

Anxiety disorders is one the rise. According to the Anxiety and Depression Association of America, anxiety disorders are the most common mental health challenge in the U.S. An estimated 40 million adults age 18 and older, or about 18% of the population, struggle with anxiety disorders. Counseling anxiety has become the most common diagnosis treated in mental health counseling.

Generalized anxiety disorder symptoms include:

  • Restlessness or feeling wound-up or on edge
  • Being easily fatigued
  • Difficulty concentrating
  • Irritability
  • Muscle tension
  • Difficulty controlling worry
  • Sleep disturbance (difficulty falling or staying asleep or restless, unsatisfying sleep)

Although occasional feelings of anxiety are normal, for those people with an anxiety disorder, the anxiety does not go away and can get worse over time. The feelings can interfere with all areas of their lives.

Oftentimes, depression can accompany anxiety, thereby creating further problems in people’s lives.

There are several additional different types of anxiety disorders, which include specific phobic disorders, panic disorder, and social anxiety disorder.

Post Traumatic Stress Disorder is also considered an anxiety disorder and it often requires specialized treatment to overcome the symptoms. Additionally, people who are victims of unresolved trauma from past abuse also encounter many of these same symptoms.

Although anxiety disorders are very prevalent, professional anxiety counseling makes it very treatable.

I have developed a number of safe, effective and efficient treatments to lessen the effects of anxiety, and help people go back to functioning normally.

If you have any questions about anxiety and the treatment thereof, please call. I’m happy to provide whatever help I can.
