Ken, I've found this to be true with some of my friends and have even thought about doing this myself. One of my friends and his fiancée don't sleep in the same room because she uses the TV to fall asleep and is also a restless sleeper. He can't have the TV on so instead of not getting sleep and sleeping in the same bed, they sleep apart simply so they have a great night's sleep. I have the same problem but it's reversed with my girlfriend and I. I need the TV on and am a restless sleeper while my girlfriend HATES having the TV on and doesn't move at all while sleeping.
